We’ve already gone over some major updates for patch 2.1, so let’s look at some of the new smaller improvements made in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
After logging in today, the first day of the new patch, I can instantly
see many changes to the user interface. Not anything extremely invasive,
but useful ways of organizing menus. It was quite overwhelming before,
and it is good to see the developers noticing this.
Right away you can see the new patch has changed the menus. Instead
of many buttons in the bottom right corner on PC, you have a few menus,
with old ones sub-menu options. Such as, map, teleport, and return are all under the button travel.
Speaking of teleport, how annoying was it looking at the map to see
what area you needed to teleport in? I remember getting a few mixed up
and teleporting to the wrong zone. But now when you look at your
teleport area list you will see the zones listed next to the area, such
as Western Thanalan, Horizon, instead of just Horizon.
Here is a screenshot of the new teleport destination look.
Player Commendations
Another new feature added in patch 2.1 is the player commendation
feature, allowing party members in a dungeon or guildhest to recommend a
player. At the end of the battle, you will see an optional menu titled “Player Commendations”
that you can click on. You can then select only one a round, or none. I
am not positive how much this actually plays into wait time or group
selection, but it is at the least a way to boost online moral.
Reputation with Commendations
The new player commendation also ads a new reputation to the game, showing up as in the menu item next to currency.
More Experience with Quick Synthesis
Before patch 2.1, quick synthesis was still useful for time comsuming
actions, but only gave half of the experience you would synthesizing
object while crafting. Now you can level faster when crafting by using
synthesis. When crafting with quick synthesis you will get the same
experience you would will no hq chance bonus.
